Default Reducer blew up!

Hello cart people. Today I was installing a voltage reducer on a 2000 48 volt club car and when i touched the positive input wire to the battery the thing blew up. I mean BOOOM! Smoke everywhere. It took about 1.5 seconds to blow up after i touched it to the battery. And yes I did not have a fuse installed. I know I had it hooked up correctly, easy enough red and black and red wire in with 48volts with 12 volts coming out the other two. Anyone know why?

And the positive from the no.1 battery goes to the controller and the negative no.6 battery goes to the controller , or solenoid whatever

I am concerned about your situation as I am expecting delivery of a similar voltage reducer.
I ordered the 10 amp model instead of the 20 amp as my load will only consist of running lights.

I will let you know the outcome when it arrives. I assume from your post that I should stand well clear as I power it up!
