Stuck Armature
Ok folks here is an issue that I hope at least one of you has run into. But first some background info. My 2000 Club Car DS was purchased from a resort on the coast of SC and of course there was no extra charge for the rust and corrosion that came with it. In an attempt to clean and then change the cables from the controller to the motor the two of the studs broke off. To make a long story short the armature is frozen to the shaft from the differential. Any thoughts as to how I proceed? I have tried heating it to a point but don't want to damage the seals or the armature.

Re: Stuck Armature
There's many threads on this. I did a site search, here's the first one I found. There are many more.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...r-removal.html Make sure use wd40 or liquid wrench, I prefer liquid wrench. I apply at least 3 times and let sit sometimes a day or 2. Use it on all your bolts ,you'll break less. The worst the oxidation, the longer it will take to penetrate. Be patient. |

Re: Stuck Armature
Well you it's been two day now and no luck removing the armature. If by tomorrow there is no progress I am going to move on to another solution. With that being sad I have found a complete differential and motor assembly from a 2009 DS. Does anyone know if this would be doable swap? The motor does not look like the GE unit I currently have in pieces on my workbench minus the armature. Any input will be appreciated.

Re: Stuck Armature
I just read the other threads on the subject. Gonna give that a shot next. If that fails to do the job will the newer assembly bolt up with no issues ?

Re: Stuck Armature
Well being an aircraft mechanic and hearing that I needed to drop the axle assembly on my shop floor went against everything I have ever imagined. But.........TahoeDawg is the man!!! I followed his instructions and on the third drop the armature fell right out!!! He has helped me in the past on a different issue. With the same cart. Thank you. Now that I have the old motor out and after doing some research I have found out that the current motor is now obsolete and it is apparent that a new motor is in my future. Will newer motors fit my axle? Will all the wiring be the same? Thanks to all that posted replies.
