Default Remove the body to get to solenoid and obc?

Getting ready to bypass the obc on a 98 ds to use the DPI charger. Is there an easier way to get to everything than removing the body? Looking at it, that seems to be the only way?

his is what i did for my 2000 DS Series cart

You can just disconnect the "Yellow" wire from the Solenoid small post that goes to the OBC and tape it.

You then need to run a new wire (16 ga) from that Solenoid small post directly to pack negative or B-.

You also need to run the negative wire (10 ga) from the back of the charger receptacle directly to pack negative.

You can leave the sense "Grey" wire alone since it is not used by the DPI charger and it is not connected to anything inside their charger.

You just need to reverse that process later if You want to sell the cart with the original charger.

That's the plan, but what's the easiest way to get to all of that. My stuff seems to be on the inside of a plate opposite of the batteries. Best I can tell, I'm gonna either have to take off the body, or get to it from under it? I'm sure I can figure it out. Thanks for the help.

Is that the panel the solenoid and obc are bolted to? I pulled a bolt on each side, but it seems there are bolts on the top I won't be able to get to without taking off the body. Which, if I take off the body, I could get to it anyway.

I built an aluminum bed for it. Did I cover up a panel I didn't know was there? Sorry for the silly questions. Probably something obvious I'm just missing.

Just went and looked at it, don't know if all '98 ds lack a rear access panel, but mine doesn't have one. All glass from the seat backs to the bag well. I'll figure it out, just figured there had to be an easier way. Thanks for the help.

If it has a rear access panel you likely covered it with the cargo box. Have a look

fldoghunter,

My 2006 DS has an access panel.

The 1995 that I was working on with my neighbor today does not have any access panel. I am guessing your 1998 is the same.

I just put it up on jack stands and worked on the controller wires and testing from underneath.

Everything is pretty accessible from below.

With or without an access panel, you can take off the rear wheel and inner fender to get to anything there. Not always easy but better than removing the body.
