2002 ezgo slow
Just picked up my 2002 EZGO TXT Series Cart and it is pretty slow. Batteries are 6 years old so I suspect they may be weak. Would this cause the speed to suffer?
I plan to do a 48V conversion in the future so really don't want to spend the money on batteries right now. Any thoughts? What is the cheapest upgrade? |

Re: 2002 ezgo slow
Define slow.
A stock cart only does 12-14 mph. Most feel that is slow but that's brand new out of the box speed. Use a gps or a speedometer app on your phone to see how "slow" it really is. |

Re: 2002 ezgo slow
Check water levels in batteries. Then charge them every chance you get. Put it on charger and wait until it shuts off , then unplug from cart and plug it right back in and wait until the charger shuts off. Keep charging often and keep an eye on water. Clean all connections. I bet that if the batteries are a quality battery they will respond and "come back " some what. Get a DVM and monitor them and see if the SOC is improving.

going up from 36v to 48v will get you about a 30% increase in both speed and torque. to do it RIGHT, you will need a new controller, HD Solenoid, HD F/R switch, and 2 ga wire set. check out scottyb's site (carts unlimited) he can FIX YOU UP!! |
