batteries on 36V ezgo
I have 6 (6) volt batteries. Can I run 3-12 volt marine batteries instead?

It will work, but you won't get any runtime out of it......

Re: batteries on 36V ezgo
Runtime isn't how many years they will last. I'm talking about how long it will on a charge......how long it can be ridden before it has to be put on charger. Marine batteries don't have the amp/hours of golf cart batteries.

Re: batteries on 36V ezgo
A 36V battery pack consists of eighteen 2V cells. It doesn't matter if they are packed three to a box (6V battery) or six to a box (12V battery), but the size and type of cell does matter.
Cell type: SLI cells (Start - Lights - Ignition: aka Car Batteries) have lousy run-times in carts and don't live very long. Deep cycle batteries are designed to provide high amps over a long period of time and are used in golf carts and other traction motor applications. Marine batteries are designed to do a little of both SLI and Deep-Cycle and are a compromise for either function. Cell size: The cells storage capacity and ability to deliver the stored energy depends on the square footage of the plates and the volume and concentration of the electrolyte. 6V, 8V and 12V deep cycle batteries typically used in carts all come in roughly the same sized boxes, therefore the higher the battery's voltage (A battery is two or more cells), the smaller the cell size and the lower the AH capacity. If you want run-time and longevity, stuff a dozen of these 4V monsters in your cart. |

Re: batteries on 36V ezgo
Alot of info... I have charged the cart less than 1 hour after use and the charger shows half drained. Are my batteries bad?

Re: batteries on 36V ezgo
what charger do you have?
also you can't go by charge rate of the charger. you need to know specific voltage of the pack after they sit off charge for a min if 1 hour. |
