Not sure any of us are "average", but I personally like to have the ability to tweak. However, I don't see any real problem with not having that ability.

It depends on what you mean by non-adjustable. Stock controller (New or rebuilt) or aftermarket non-adjustable (IE Alltarx NCX or NPX)?

If your cart has stock height tires (18") and you are satisfied with stock performance, a non adjustable aftermarket controller might take care of your needs and wants. I don't know for sure, but I understand non-programable aftermarket controllers are more durable than stock controllers.

If you have tires taller than 18" or plan to install them at a later date, you need a higher amp controller and with a programmable unit, you can dial it back for now and then turn it up when you install taller tires, or do other upgrades.

I'd go with an Alltrax AXE or SPM Amps determined by tire height.
Talk to scottyb at carts unlimited, he'll steer you in the right direction.
