I used it on my last 3 carts and havent had a problem yet, but this cart i am upgrading to 400 amp alltrax. and 48v convertion

4 AWG should be fine for 400 amps. 500 amps I used 2 AWG. Bigger never hurts, except your wallet. Make sure the lugs have the correct sized hole. 3/8" is pretty typical, but battery lugs and most others besides a super duty solenoid, are 5/16". You want as much copper in contact as possible and if the hole is too big, you have less contact area.
