I was doing closer to 30 than 40 when my motor exploded, but I can attest to the fact that sliding to a stop from 30+ MPH is exciting, to say the least.

That was almost a year ago and I still haven't gotten the brown stripe off the seat cushion.

In addition, exploding the motor will also take out the controller, so the repair bill will be well over a grand even if you do the work yourself.

I am surprised there is no rev limiter on them or something that could be in the programing of the controller to prevent something like a exploding motor.
scary...

In theory, yes, but in real life, it will be less.

Scotty has empirical data from building carts and working on carts others have built, while my data comes from numbers crunched in a spreadsheet.

Different type tires have different rolling resistances and some of them are amp hogs, so the same drive system won't turn them as fast as it would more efficient tires.

Even if there was a rev limiter, some of the forum members would figure out a way to bypass it.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll be coasting the hills from now on I'd hate to end up like Johnnie and have brown marks on the white seats

D&D tells me I should keep my motor under 6500 RPM, which is 28.5 MPH with my tire height and gear ratio. Fortunately, that is also the max RPM my motor will reach on level ground (at 42V), but it is easy to exceed it on the slightest downhill slope.

I don't know what the differential gear ratio is in your CC DS, but if it is 12.44:1 like in most EZGO carts, you will hit 6500 RPM at about 29.5 MPH with 19" tires.
