Default Jerk on take off

I am getting a jerk on take off. I hold the brake, rev a bit and ease off the brake to prevent the jerk. I was told to reverse the belt. Good idea or not? What else is causing the jerk. I also get a jerk if I slow to near stop snd take off again. Give me some hints please. Thanks.

Check to make sure the throttle is returning to the stop at the carb...if it is hanging open at all, it will tend to get jerky.

Possibly just a worn belt, sticking clutch or maybe worn clutch sheaves.

Remove the cover off of the drive clutch and remove the big spring that holds the clutch open.
That will eliminate having to rev the engine to get the clutch to engage.
I've done it for years and everyone likes it.
