Batteries drained and possible controller problem
I'm working on a 05 PDS cart that came to me not running and the 07 trojan batteries completely dead, lights and accessories not working. The voltage readings were all around 0.3. I installed new batteries but the cart still will not go and the reverse buzzer made an odd noise when I switched from reverse to forward. I lift the seat again and removed the main pos cable, this time with the controller in "run", I touched the cable to the post and it arced...indicating to me the controller must be drawing current and draining the batteries. Any ideas why the cart is not working? Does this sound like a burnt out controller? Its a stock PDS controller and the cart is lifted. Thanks

Re: Batteries drained and possible controller problem
No it is just a capacitor discharging or some such? ANyway go to the stickies and use the diagnostics

Re: Batteries drained and possible controller problem
The solenoid does not click. I'm looking through the stickies now and there is a lot of good info there. How could the batteries have been drained that low? It wouldnt be from the lights being left on right because all the batteries were dead?

Was you able to run the Diagnostics on it?

Re: Batteries drained and possible controller problem
If the solenoid remains engaged (energized) while the cart was parked it would draw the pack down over time. Just a thought. Charge the pack back up then disconnect the solenoid and see if the pack retains it's charge.

Re: Batteries drained and possible controller problem
I'm just now getting time to look at this cart and will perform the diagnostics written in the stickies here. I just wanted to mention about the arcing again. This is the first I have ever seen a cart spark when you touch the last cable to be connected in the pack to its battery post. It will arc every time if the controller is in run. Also the reverse buzzer does not sound normal. It makes a noise like it tries to work but is not getting anything out.

Re: Batteries drained and possible controller problem
A reverse buzzer will sound funny if it is not getting full voltage or interference. Check connections and isolate your batteries from the rest of your cart and see if you have full voltage with all the batteries connected. Check all wiring for bare wire or shorted wires. Run through a complete wiring diagram of your cart and use diag as said in above post.

Re: Batteries drained and possible controller problem
Switch the run/tow switch to tow BEFORE you connect the battery pack and it won't arc ... Is the peddle box micro working correctly? have you checked the solenoid activation circuit?
