Ok, well, never knew that. Probably because I don't own anything with a factory Yamaha engine. Only engine's I've ever worked on had internal oiling.

So, if oil isn't coming out, would you suspect oil pump? Or is that engine just splash only? I'm thinking plugged with sludge?

Either the oil is too low, somewhere between the sump and the exit of the line is blocked or the splash fin on the connecting rod is damaged or installed wrong.

That's what I was thinking. I had a brand new lawn mower engine that seized up within 2 hours of operating. I took it apart and the connecting rod was upside down and the oil dipper was facing up. It can happen.
