Default Comet 94c removal tools?

Just bought a 94c Duster 30mm 1:10 taper, I need a removal tool. The paperwork for the clutch says the puller is #205838A and the cover tool is washer #205748A and bolt #209423A.

Any ideas where to buy?

Is there 1 puller for all 94c clutches?

Thanks!

Those pullers are really expensive. Just go to the hardware store and get the bolt/washer you need for the clutch. Then use a spacer inside to help pull the clutch off. Just don't mess up the threads on the crank. I use a brass rod as a spacer. $5 VS $50. My brother has a 94c just like yours and it has a different thread than mine.

It says in the paperwork that the threads inside the clutch hub are 9/16-18. Is that just standard "fine thread"? I didn't see any at the big box store.

Nevermind, I found this:

Ok, so get a bolt that fits all the threads, then make a "smooth rod" to go inside the hub to bottom out inside? So the bolt just threads in and pushes on the "spacer rod" and pushes from inside the crank, right? POP! Off comes the clutch?

So then the same is true for the "cover puller", just get a bolt that fits and a big fender washer? That setup acts as a "remover" and a "installer" for the outer cover, correct?

Use a brass spacer rod. The difference in size between the crank and the clutch bolt is minimal. The spacer rod will have a tendancy to go into the crank hole. You can just clean it up with a tap if necessary. If you're not comfortable with doing that, you'll need to spring for the puller.

You don't need the washer when you're pulling the cover. It works just like I posted.

If you haven't done this yet try to find a spacer of brass or aluminum that will not go in the hole to avoid messing the threads up. Maybe drop a snug washer in the hole first.

This came up recently. Thought I'd update this thread.

These are pics of the removal tools. Money well spent IMO. That's what I ended up getting.

Comet #205817a (puller rod only)

Comet #205840a (puller kit)

Using a homemade rod and bolt will also work, if you are careful. I am a big proponent of using the correct tools to avoid damage.

Yes. I made my own I could not find one back then when comet was out of biz. Its a fine thread bolt goofy size like 9/16 or 5/8 I forget. Then took a smaller bolt (5/16 or 3/8 maybe) that would fit inside the threads of the crank with threads ground off it, and shorten it until its in the clutch over half inch I think, round the tip, round the hex off. So I put that in and then the bolt and it comes right off. Then you smack the bolt head to pop the cover off, remove bolt. Only problem I have is sometimes the adapter slides on the crank instead of the taper popping off, then I have to crank on the bolt a while to slide it off. The washer is to put the cover back on with the bolt, but I made a spacer out of huge nuts and a washer its faster.
