Default 84 club car engine pressure

My 84 Club Car will not turn over more than 1/2 turn and shuts down, if the spark plug is lose or removed the engine cranks fine, figured I might have a bent exhaust valve, pulled the cover and both valves are moving fine and appears in time...I have left the spark plug really loose and the engine runs...am I missing something, exhaust is clear also....just acts as if it is over pressurizing and locks the engine....any suggestions greatly appreciated

Does that also happen if you try turning the engine by hand?

I would first put a voltmeter on the battery and see how low the battery voltage drops while it's trying to start. A low/dead battery will not provide enough voltage for the starter generator to overcome the compression.

What he said. Or the starter/generator may be shot and need replaced. I would recommend highly against the purchase of an aftermarket one if at all possible, that's a pretty old cart and I'm not sure if they're the same as current or not though.
