Re: EZGO TxT48 with Leaf Modules
Install looks good
Did you decide not to use the temp probe to keep any eye on the module temps? |

Re: EZGO TxT48 with Leaf Modules
Probably better than nothing but if any other module gets hot it won't see it fast enough.

Re: EZGO TxT48 with Leaf Modules
I sandwiched my heat monitor in between two modules near the center. Wire crush wasn't an issue. I generally check the pack temp when I'm charging. Plus......if you're looking to shut it down because of thermal runaway......it's likely gonna be to late at that point anyway.

Re: EZGO TxT48 with Leaf Modules
My garage seldom gets above 85 degrees and even when running or charging the pack will only climb a few degrees above ambient.
I think that the highest temps that I've ever seen on my pack was 92 when charging on a hot day. Typically if its a hot day I'll wait until it cools off in the evening before plugging in, I always charge with the seat raised and if its a really hot day I turn on a fan. FWIW, I've seen the pack temps drop by 3-5 degrees by just having a fan blow across the pack when charging on those hot days. I'm pretty sure that I read that the thermal threshold for these cells is at 482 degrees. Since the hottest temperature I've experienced is 92 degrees, anything over 110 is an anomaly and will open the HV/LV disconnect and isolate the pack. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Re: EZGO TxT48 with Leaf Modules
Temperature sensor would be another backup to prevent a fire in case the other things fail. Lithium packs do not warm up much at all during normal charging - especially at the low rates that most of us charge at.
Tesla can supercharge at something like 400 amps - so they need lots of battery cooling while charging at those rates. My charger only goes to 17 amps which is less than .2C charge rate. |
