Default Replaced Starter/Generator... Now getting Sparks

1998 Club Car/Gas

Replaced starter/generator, belts, fuel lines, fuel filters, and fuel pump. As I gave it the gas to test, sparks came from a wire that is attached to the front of the motor and the other end attached to the frame.
I put the wires back on the New S/G the same as the old S/G. I'm guessing I've crossed some wires somewhere... any ideas? Thanks for any help.

One of the cable ends on the starter gen might be touching the case or might have worn insulation that’s grounding it to the engine bracket.
Or you do not have a good connection for the negative cable from SG to frame.
