Clutch woes
Guys I have a 95 CC DS and the primary clutch dosent close all the way. I believe this is because the secondary is not opening all the way. Is anyone else's experience this. The primary closes all the way if the belt is removed. Also the governor is removed. Thanks for Any help.

Re: Clutch woes
Are you sure it has the correct belt? maybe the torque convertor is open all the way, and the belt is to short to reach the top of the cluth then............

Re: Clutch woes
The belt is correct and the center/center distance is 9.625"

Re: Clutch woes
If the secondary clutch has rust on the shaft, it will not open, causing the primary to not close. Your primary weight bushings could be worn and binding up also.

Re: Clutch woes
no rust on shaft. i had the primary apart and all looks good inside. i installed the +200 RPM spring but it was doing this before the spring change. it almost seems like a design flaw. i had a snowmobile that did the same thing and i had to remove some material on the secondary to let it close more and let the belt climb up on the primary...???

Re: Clutch woes
Every video on you tube shows the belt never makes it to the top of the primary clutch.

Re: Clutch woes
Club Car belts go up to about 3/8 from the top. That's it unless you remove material to let it go to the top. You'll gain 3-4 mph.

Re: Clutch woes
In regards to removing material, I always thought it was the driven clutch (the one atop the axle) that gets machined. I've never heard of anyone machining the face of the drive clutch on the motor. Do I have this right?

Re: Clutch woes
Nope, do it all the time. If you machine the driven clutch it will give a little more torque on the bottem end. Machined drive clutch gives more speed.
