What weight engine oil should I use when changing the oil?

Thanks, I live in Oregon and it does get below fifty sometimes. Will 30 still be ok?

For colder weather, use 10W-40. 30 weights are too thin, and will not lubricate the engines bearings as well due to rod and crank clearences. (Quoting from my manual)
