I really tried to blow up my Vanny for many days in a row, but I was unsuccessful.
I had to submerge it in muddy water in order for it to show signs of failure a few weeks later.

I believe the motor VC blew was a different version of the motor from reading that thread. Not the one HF has for sale now.

For that price I'd try one. They're starting to drop them into the heavy duty older lawn and garden tractors with horizontal shaft engines. Not enough data yet on long term durability but if I had to do a repower on one of my JD 400's I'd definitely give the Predator a try. What could possibly go wrong..

I'm sure when the gx390 clones came out plenty of people crapped all over them, now it's a favorite engine for swaps. I'm interested to see what people get from these predator twins. They probably aren't as perfect as a new name brand v-twin, but at less than half the price in some cases it's probably well worth it.

well mine works perfect for me. yes the shaft is 1 inch and it didnt have to be cut. i had to relocate the oil cooler for clearance so i put a 12v computer fan on it to cool it.the only thing i dont like is the charging system could be better. im just gonna put a alternator on it so i dont have to worry. for the money i think its a great motor

Prob a good engine.....if you keep it stock (as someone already said). But who knows? They are said to be Honda gx670 clones, and those run pretty good. If the manufacturing is anything like the smaller Predator engines, I'm betting it won't be long before the compression release stops working, or one of the valve springs breaks, or rocker arm, pushrod....that sort of thing. You see, these engines were made to be "cheap"/"affordable" replacements for lawn equipment. Usually machines that are run at a constant 3200 rpm or so. The life of a golf cart, especially one driven by a man full of adrenaline and testosterone, is constantly variable with rpm and often red lined. So I'm anxious to see the results, but I can almost predict the outcome.

Or, they could be like the 212cc versions that have practically revolutionized kart/minibike power...

Sooner or later someone will actually look at what the valve train needs for more rpms and it will be a option for those wanting a new vtwin powerplant for their golf cart.

Try over revving it and see what happens.
