What is the best cart to rebuild and own?
I see many people ask this question, mostly from someone new to golf carts that wants to get into the hobby.
So I ask..... What is the best cart to rebuild and own? I know we will get biased answers. So what I'm looking for are objective opinions from people who have owned many different brands and models. Play along and lets have fun with this. Let's answer these questions: Just copy and paste to your response. 1.) How many carts have you owned? 2.) What models? 3.) Which was your favorite? Why? 4.) Which was your least favorite? Why? 5.) If you could build one cart, what would it be? Describe. |

Re: What is the best cart to rebuild and own?
I'll go first....
1.) How many carts have you owned? 10 2.) What models? 1999 Ezgo TXT 1984 Yamaha G1 gas 1980 Yamaha G1 gas 1979 Yamaha G1 electric 1990 Yamaha G2 gas 1994 Yamaga G9 gas 1997 Ezgo TXT 2000 Yamaha G16 2004 Jacobsen Hauler 1995 Jacobsen Express 3.) Which was your favorite? Why? Yamaha G9, it was a cart that I built and sold. It was everything that my G1 was not, but very similar. I liked the round tube frame and the Jakes LT suspension. It had the 16hp Vanguard, top, fold down rear seat, lights. It was a really nice cart. Very sturdy. Easy to work on. Lightweight, quick. Could have used front disc brakes to make it complete. 4.) Which was your least favorite? Why? The Yamaha G1 electric. Very slow. No power. Too small. 5.) If you could build one cart, what would it be? Describe. Well I might be building it now. The 2004 Jacobsen Hauler (aka Ezgo Workhorse). It has the 350cc Robin twin, factory dump bed, lots of room in the engine compartment, extended wheelbase, good all around cart. This one is probably my next keeper project. Wish list would be an LT front suspension, roll bar/upper brush guard, stereo speakers, led light bars, street legal kit. |
