I have a '97 electric Club Car and noise comes from the motor area momentarily when accelerating and more so when you let off the throttle and coast.

That doesn't sound too good. The output shaft splines could be a little stripped. Only way you can tell for sure is to pull the motor off and look. There may be some other causes also.

There is a rubber bushing on the end of your motor that is probably wearing out.
It fits down into the motor and fits around the splines of the input shaft.. |

Re: "97 elect. Club car noise when accelerating and coasting
Something similar happened with my 98 48V... especialy when decelerating, and coasting
I found, with the lack of maintenance on my electric cart before I owned it... The rearend was very low on oil! It took almost 3/4 of a quart of 10W-30... now, the noise is barely noticeable! Check it first, before tearing into it! |
