Cool Build!!Get a piece of tube atleast the same thickness that will fit inside your swing-arm.You will want atleast 3-4" inside each section, drill a couple 3/8"-plug-holes vertically and horizontally(maybe 2 top and bottom,2 on sides,You can drill right thru, but stagger the vertical and horizontals. Then weld the joint as well.

Re: G1 Clone Build: Vegas Carts 440
I thought I'd slip fit inside by 3" each side. Fully weld the seams. Then drill 4 3/8" holes, staggered, through the outer tubing, near the ends of the inside tube. Weld the plugs, and fully weld the seams.
Any risks using sched 40 black steel pipe? I figure its way thicker than the .125 stock tubing, and it's way easier to find around here. I know it's not structural steel, but it's not exactly soft metal, right? To order DOM in the right size for my application, it would cost me over $60 plus shipping for a 4 ft section. Black steel pipe would cost less than $20 at HD. |

Slo it is rumored to be in the 30 hp range. I hope he's right! I ordered it assembled just because I don't have much spare time anymore. It didn't cost much at all to have it put together. I thought the invoice said $50... It will be here Wednesday. I might have to bolt it down to the bench and get it lit up!

Re: G1 Clone Build: Vegas Carts 440
Thanks everyone! I'll be getting some work done on it this week and weekend since I'm off work....YEAH!!!! I'm too excited about this. My wife just doesn't understand....LOL! She's like..."Isn't it too cold outside (18 deg this morning) to work on that thing?" I said "That's what propane is for!"
