Default Re: Alltrax - only getting 17-19mph

This is just a stab in the dark. When I replaced my DCX500IQ controller I went by the Mini-Man to hook it up. They had the A1-A2 wired reversed from what the Curtis controller uses. Figured WTH this is what they're showing so it must be right. Fired it up and found I needed to also reverse S1-S2 to get it to run in the right direction. I went for a test ride and just like yours it was slow and sluggish and seemed to have very little or no improvements. I scoured the Alltrex website and found a schematic on how to connect a CC motor to the Alltrex controller. What it showed was just the oppisite or what I had. I switched the wires back just like I had them with the Curtis and all was back to "normal"

I goggled this and I read on one of the sites that there is a preferred way to connect these wires on a motor. Something to do with the brushes.

That was my experience I hope this might help you

Always determine battery power is up to snuff when investigating a performance issue. Use a voltmeter to determine the lowest pack voltage under load. This will give us some indication of battery health.
What batteries are you running?
How many times have you recharged them?
What is a full charge reading 12 hours after charging?
51.1-51.5 12 hrs after charge. With no use
Been charged about 20x since new

Thanks. I'm out now but will review what my wiring is later.

Mine is wired according to Alltrax diagram : M- to A2, B+ to A1

Perhaps I should swap around and do what you did - but don't know what will happen or if anything will get damaged.

Check this diagram. It should make you feel better about changing it

That's the way it s currently wired. Going to do two things.

Change the wiring then if that's no good - go back to the old controller.

How fast is it in reverse? That should be a pretty good indicator if the wires are now reversed.

Good luck either way :)

I read on Alltrax website that with a 200A HD solenoid you need a HD F&R. Could the F&R switch, by being stock, be limiting the top end speed?

No, not in the Sepex drive system. The F&R rocker sends a low amperage signal to the control and the control handles the high amperage switching.
