If I do the reducer, can I hook up a 12v DC to it so I can then hook up the inventor without hardwiring it in?

If you are just running Christmas light in a parade. Why not just put an extra battery in the bag well for the parade.

put battery in bag well
use battery cable clamps on battery

If it is a 48 volt cart, just cut the light strings in half and wire them to the 48 volts of the cart

That is what I do, and I use the alligator clamps to connect them,
just be sure to wire them correctly so that You are running HALF the light string at the time, which will run fine on 48 volts, for 36 volt carts, cut the light strings into 3 equal parts and wire them into the battery pack with alligator clamps like the 48 volt method

Dale

My daughter teaches math. Can you give me something on how that volt-math works out with the light string?
