Moving RXV without batteries?
I have a 2008 RXV and pulled the batteries to do some general cleanup and ended up having to move the cart while I wait for parts. I have the original auto brake with the lever so I could hold the brake off and move it but was hoping there was a better way.
Also, I have read that the original brake version is prone to issues so if I eventually need to upgrade to the new version how would I disengage the brake if I pull the batteries? |

Re: Moving RXV without batteries?
Bummer, I was hoping there was a less intrusive way...lol
I wonder if I could rig up a small 48V battery that has enough juice to disengage the brake but still small and portable... |

Re: Moving RXV without batteries?
If you just need to move it around on a hard flat surface a couple of those furniture dollys from HF work great

Re: Moving RXV without batteries?
Thanks for the info. I know that a lot of e-bikes use 48V batteries so I still like the idea of a quick hookup option in a pinch so does anyone know what kind of amperage the cart would draw with the key just set to the N position? Not sure what kind of coils are in all the solenoids so wondering if anyone had determined that number from tracing down a short or some other reason...

Re: Moving RXV without batteries?
Agreed. Pulling the brake is the easiest way and it's only three bolts. Takes only but 3 minutes to have it off

Re: Moving RXV without batteries?
I'll agree with the others here. You can remove the motor brake faster than you could "rig" another power source - and you don't have to buy anything to do it.

Re: Moving RXV without batteries?
I appreciate all the info and suggestions. I enjoy tinkering so I might make a 48V pack as a multi-use item with this being one of them just for fun anyway...lol

Re: Moving RXV without batteries?
I made a brake unlock tool with a "boost convertor" and a small 12v sla battery for this purpose. But, don't set your voltage at 48v, that's too much. About 20v will do. Others have also done this temporarily with a cordless drill battery. I ordered the plug from mouser or wirecare.com and made it with a legit plug for the brake (don't remember the name of the plug). Found it! Plug is a "metri-pack 150 series"
