I'm actually doing this right now on my 87 Marathon...

I bought a Curtis PB6 pot box, Alltrax AXE-4845 controller (and HD solenoid), as well as 2 new batteries to bring me up to a total of 48v for more speed.

I'll take some pics as I go along, but other than some wiring modifications and figuring out how to mount the potbox, I don't think it's going to be a huge project.

no, alltrax controller and pb6 from evdrives, hd solenoid was laying around the shop, 2 new batteries from sams club, and the battery wiring is just 4ga house wiring also that I had laying around the shop.

My neighbors call it the ghetto cart, when it gets run into a tree or something, we just put a date on the dent, and it's certainly not a looker, but it runs and we have fun with it.

sounds like mine, it had been sitting behind a barn for years. I had to buy batteries and tires, the old charger still works to I don't guess it would work with 48v set up

FalconFan:

You'd definitely need a new charger... I actually got my new charger from Scotty.... already got everything wired in and ready to go.

Also, question for Scotty:

can you get just the end that plugs into the charger for the cables? I'd like to make a longer cable to a Anderson connector for charging my cart but the connectors are already crimped (don't want to have the charger on board)...

You can buy the Anderson plug and the terminal ends so you can adapt the charger.

falconfan:

I have some pics of my journey up on my personal website at:

http://www.oaknet.com/gallery/index....lf-Cart?page=2

basically, I removed all the parts from the old vglide assembly, removed the resistor pack, and rewired everything according to the alltrax data sheet.

this is definitely NOT a project for the faint of heart, nor for somebody that doesn't have at least a good base of electrical experience (I actually work on telco DC power systems, so i have a good knowledge of dc power as well as working around high-amperage connections ... some of the battery strings I work on are 10,000-20,000 amps...

the throttle linkage at the moment is kinda a joke (I used a shoelace LOL, while I wait for a real cable...

if you have questions, I'll try to answer them the best I can...
