Re: Controller super hot, cart shutting down
Should I also consider replacing the ground wire running through the OBC?
It was also really hot. And the only cable still stock on the cart. |

Re: Controller super hot, cart shutting down
what size wire you running??? in California everything is bigger, better and runs cooler
you could still have something bad like controller motor but if the wires are hot lets go there first |

that you should use a stock size cable going through the OBC, and run the larger cable in parallel, but outside the OBC, so you still have the charging capabilities of the OBC, Yet, you have full voltage delivery to your controller... Did you do this? |

Re: Controller super hot, cart shutting down
I did not run a parallel cable around the OBC, just have the stock wire.
Yes the cart still charges normal I do not know if I have full voltage to the controller, but I have over 51 volts at the end of the pack. As stated earlier, the 48 volt wire was not hot at all. I read somewhere else about using a piece of 5/16 stainless allthread and jam nut it through the OBC, then run two bigger cables to the allthread, one on each side. |

Re: Controller super hot, cart shutting down
aluminum will give less resistance, copper would be best I could not find copper allthread

Re: Controller super hot, cart shutting down
I could try and find a copper bolt and cut the head off it to make it into allthread, if a copper bolt is even available?
Should I just run a new #2 cable around the OBC and leave the stock wire? Is my problem all due to the fact that I did not do anything with the stock OBC wire, one way or the other? |
