Default '96 EZGO DCS charger receptacle question

I just re installed all wiring and I'm seeing a wire that I don't recall connecting to anything and I cant find a male end for it to connect to. It's coming from the charger receptacle. I've got the positive and negative cables hooked up properly. I can hear the charger kick on. Any clue if this is supposed to connect anywhere???

The Reed Switch connection from the charger receptacle connects to the controller main pin #4

At the risk of sounding ignorant... which one is pin #4? lol

And what does the reed switch do? Am I putting anything at risk by NOT connecting it?

The reed switch is a stupid expensive fuse Ezgo used for a few yrs and did away with..... the red wire supplies power to the controller for all the ignition functions in your PDS cart. If your cart runs without this then it is being fed 36v positive from somewhere else... this is often the case with a blown reed switch... a bypass or alternate source is connected.
Basically if the cart runs don't worry about it.

Technically it was never a fuse..... It was a lockout circuit for when the charger was connected. The small magnet in the charger handle was intended to open the magnetic reed switch when the handle was inserted into the cart. Unfortunately, this proved to be a major issue due mainly to the reed switch sticking in the open position (a condition easily diagnosed by simply putting the cart in reverse and not hearing the reverse buzzer and easily fixed by simply giving a sharp tap to the top of the charger recpticle). After literally thousands of complaints regarding this issue, E-Z-GO finally did away with this device in 2005 and as a safety precaution (because now the cart would run with the charger plugged in) they installed a 60 AMP MEGA fuse on the white wire at the battery end.

ok school lesson for the night is now over lmao......
