Re: 1990 Marathon potentiometer problems, HPD with Alltrax
You pot is not good
I haven't told anybody that in 30 yrs Seriously ! Looks like we found your problem. Your readings won't work with a 0-5k or a 5k-0 unit so which pot do you have? And which controller input do you have? |

Re: 1990 Marathon potentiometer problems, HPD with Alltrax
That is the unit that should be in there however it is reading WAY out of line.....
It's a PB-16 unit and the readings from it should be 0-5k (approximately). Contact the place you purchased it from and tell them you need a replacement since the one they sent you is out of range. |

Re: 1990 Marathon potentiometer problems, HPD with Alltrax
Here's some follow up: For anyone who has this same problem and same readings-- my pot box was wired wrong. I stupidly put the short wires to the F-N-R switch and the long ones to the controller. Switching the two took care of the HPD warning!
It runs now, but slowly. I haven't GPS'd it, but it's slower than I would expect for a 500amp controller and 4G wire. With the DVM set on 20K, The pot starts at 0 and gradually climbs to 5.11. Does the 5.11 mean 5,110 ohms or is this pot still bad? The pack volts are 38.2. |

Re: 1990 Marathon potentiometer problems, HPD with Alltrax
NO that is a good reading, yes 5.11 = 5110 ohms
You may want to turn that controller down 100 amps to preserve the stock motor. Going to 48v will now give you 33% more torque and speed. Congratulations on a successful conversion. |
