Transfer Case or Rear Axle(s) Stripped
I have an EZ Go Txt Freedom electric that was running great, then my teenage son had a load of wood on it and noticed the imbalance of weight along with sharply mashing the pedal would bring the front wheels off of the ground. After doing this several times, the Cart stopped. Now when you press the pedal, it just makes a low grade grinding, kind of like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle, only muffled. I have taken the motor loose and the pumpkin cover off, nothing seems to be damaged. Does anyone know what part is most likely to be stripped when the Cart is overloaded like that?

I will bet that your hub is spun and it's the drivers side. The hub is the brake drum.

Re: Transfer Case or Rear Axle(s) Stripped
The suggestion of the stripped hub sounded very logical, so I took both of them off. They do not look stripped, they actually appear to be in very good shape, and there were no metal filings present.
Could it be the motor? The sound I was telling you about seems to be coming from the motor. Is there any way to test it? I have it loose from the drive train, but when I press the pedal it only moves very slowly despite a full charge. Does it do that even if its good? |

Don't try and run the motor with it removed. It only has one bearing and needs to be connected to the input shaft to work.

Pull the input shaft and inspect it for damage. I'm sorry to hear it was not the hubs, that would have been an easier fix.
