Yurtle is right, 180°C (356°F) is the max temp for Class-H insulation, but other than embedding thermocouples in the windings, we have to measure the temperature of the wires in the windings indirectly and derate it accordingly.
For non-vented motors, 115°C (239°F) is the derated max temperature when measured at the motor case. Also, there is a time delay for the heat reaching the motor case. Therefore the motor case temperature will continue to increase after the cart has stopped at the top of a steep hill. If you have a vented motor, contact the manufacturer and ask what the max case temperature should be. |
