Testing individual Batteries to make a good pack?
I just acquired 3 2011 CC Precedents all with 48 volt 6x8 packs in them. My question is how would I test each individual battery and make one or possibly 2 good packs and weed out any bad ones. Hopefully I will just be able to replace all in one of the carts.
Thanks. |

Re: Testing individual Batteries to make a good pack?
first fully charge each pack and let sit 12hrs
test each battery with a DVM put 6 best readings together for one pack then next 6 best as 2nd pack last 6 together any under 8.3v (75%) charge are on the way to dieing Last edited by crash test dummy; 07-15-2014 at 10:28 AM.. Reason: added pic |

Here is another question. One of the carts the batts are so low it won't charge. Any suggestions? Or how do you charge a single battery?

Re: Testing individual Batteries to make a good pack?
You can put a 12v (up to 6A) charger on a SINGLE 8 volt golf cart battery for an hour or so just to bring the voltage up to something respectable - but don't do that unattended, because your 12v charger may get hot, or protest in some other way (thermal shutdown). One by one you should be able to get them back to a decent voltage where the big charger will work....unless they are really trashed.
