Have you done any mods to your cart? I wouldn't recomend this untill you have hardened valves and seats installed. A oil cooler would be wise before letting it scream too

On a side note, is that Jr dragster in your avitar?

Gotta couple of those myself

how much $ do you think you have in the ignition? Also can the connecting rods take the added horse power? They seem to be a weak link in this motor . I am thinking of doing the same ignition on my cart, thanks for all the info.

the MSD box won't give you any added HP.

Probably around $275 in the whole set up. Not including the first MSD I fried

I was told not to let the engine rev past 7000 RPM by a few members here but so far the higest I've seen running the motor in neutral was around 5200-5300. I need to get the tiny tach mounted in the dash so I can keep an eye on it while driving.

I do have an oil cooler installed which increased the capicty to 2 qts. and I used mobile 1 syn in it.

Like I stated before hough, make sure your head and valves are up to the task.

All this madness started cuz I opened the Gov on my stock 295 and it ae up the valves and seats. I was going to just replace the head and now look where I'm at

Very true. All the MSD will do is eliminate the factory rev limiter allowing the engine to RPM more.

I am curious to know what that would do on a stock motor.

Mine is far from stock now

Glad to hear everything is OK now. It kind've sounded like a problem with the box.
The Autometer Tachs you referred to works just fine on these carts. They make a small (2 5/ dia. one and a large (3 1/2) dia one. You can buy them from Summit, Jegs etc. Don't hook it to the tach output on the MSD. You have to splice to the orange (coil pos) MSD wire.
From past experience the stock valve springs are ok to about 5500 rpm. After that you are in dangerous territory. The valves float and the keepers fly out and....Don't ask me how I know. If Rpm's is your goal I have Stainless valves and Hi-Rev springs.

Hi Fred Everything I have works, but all the parts are in different engines. I'll call for some more valves and springs. Good to see ya here. I'm gonna mod two, one will be the MCI350 w milled head and the MSD and carb????The other is the 295/350. yea, more valves and springs

Fred

It took a bit of studying on the wiring diagram to realize I had cut the red wire to the volatge reg and spliced the 12v switched wire from the MSD to that. I think that's what killed it.

I did have a fuel issue this past weekend and had to spry about a can of cleaner in the carb. Man this things flies.

You should see the looks I get when I zip past people in the pits and then it's even better when I lift the seat and they see the box.

I can't wait to get a set of high speed gears
