Re: 4 stroke HEI Conversion
Just to report back, the HEI & GM coil conversion was not a success on my 295cc 4 stroke. Like many others who tried this, it appeared to work great, until the road test. The cart cranks and runs 100% better with the HEI setup, but doesn't perform on high end. It runs rough and lacks power when under a load. It's almost as if there's a timing issue. I was really hoping this would work. Guess I'll fork out the cash for the stock ignitor.

Re: 4 stroke HEI Conversion
Just did the HEI conversion with the schematic from page 2. Had trouble until I realized the white and red wires that attached to the stock coil were still being run off of the stock igniter. Switched with the red/white and black wires coming from the pulsar, and it fired right up and lurched forward in my garage. Road tested and runs 100% smoother. Thanks a bunch for the post!

Re: 4 stroke HEI Conversion
I know this is over a year old, but no one has determined if this actually works or not. Last post stated this worked, but no one else responded. I have tried 3 igniters from Buggies unlimited and all 3 have failed to perform. I am in need of an igniter and I was reading through all of the forum write ups on the 4 stroke engines and have yet to be convinced if this is the way to go. Can someone enlighten me on this?

Re: 4 stroke HEI Conversion
Every where I check they only have the junk, for say items and not the OEM ones. So, where can one get the OEM one?

Re: 4 stroke HEI Conversion
I just go to my local dealer. They've always been great to me in the past, and I haven't found anywhere online that carries OEM ez-go parts.
I believe I remember seeing somewhere back that revolution golf cars (site sponser) was able to get some ez-go parts, but I cannot confirm. I'd call him and ask, and if not just call your closest local dealer. |

Can you use the stock coil with the HEI?

Re: 4 stroke HEI Conversion
We haven't gotten long term follow up on HEI conversions actually working, so, I would say no. Maybe one day someone will get one to work and post the list of parts needed to make it work. The only one I am aware of was Fast Fred's supercharged TXT, but that used the MSD HEI ignition and cost a ton of money.
