94 carryall 11 low end power needed
I have a 94 carryall 11 with a FE-290 that starts and runs good. I rebuilt the drive and the driven clutches. The belt rides at the bottom of the drive clutch and the top of the driven, with about 1 in. deflection. The valve lash is .005 tnds. tune up kit, 6 in. spindle lift and 22 in. knobby tires have been installed. With 800 lbs.the engine reves to the govenor on level road, but won" t hit govener on slight hill. The RPM drop on moderate hill until they are so low the clutch slips, around 1200 RPM or so. I have an old EZGO utility vehicle[ that I was going to sell] that will pull the same hill [with 18 in. tires]with power to spare. I don"t need speed more than 8-10 mph, but I do need better hill climbing power. Are there larger driven clutches available and would it do what I need with the FE.290? Would rebuilding the engine .050 over be a better way to go? I like this Carryall 11 with alunimum frame and enclosed cab and bed if i want it. During the first week of hunting this year we had to push it up hills that the old EZGO would have pulled up OK.Does anyone have any idears on how to get more hill climbing power without buying a $2000.00 plus clone?????
