Default 88 EZGO Marathon Project - Just Got it - Need Advice

I just purchased this 88 Marathon, it runs great and already had a little done to it. I stold this baby for $200 and now I am tearing it down because I want to start beefing it up. I would like to retro a long travel on it or build my own does anyone have any ideas or plans for a custom long travel? Maybe some advise or anything would be appreciated:)

Thanks Lou, I hope I get plenty of ideas. I worked on this cart for a friend and he had taken it to several shops to figure out why it wouldnt run. The last shop replaced the carb with a new one and the fuel pump. I ran a little better but did not last long. It quit again and he was tired of spending money on it because he had just replaced the clutch. He brought it to me and asked if I wanted to tinker with it because it would not start. It took all of 5 mins on the net and 30 mins of test to figure out the crank seal behind the fan was shot. I replaced it and it ran great but lacked a little power so I replaced the belt with a shorter belt and now it runs great and has lots of power although the compression is around 110 foward and 120 in reverse. I called him to come pick it up and he told me that he just bought a new cart and asked if I wanted to buy it. Bought it for $200. I think I stole it. Anyway I want to beef it up, put a roll cage on it, I would like to add a new style of body to it but know how much of a pain that would be. If I can't I guess I break out the ole trusty spray gun and paint it.

yes, you did steal that..good looking! for not much you can get a new piston and rings and boost your compression. i bet the cyl. is good with a 110 compression. did you replace both seals? probably should. good luck.

For long travel graft on sport quad suspension. It's been done with huge success.

Okay back to work - Got the engine out this evening. I remembered the steering felt a little funny last time I drove it so I pulled it apart and found that I had a broken cog on the reduction gear. Also I noticed that I have a broken button on my Driven Pulley. Where the heck do you find these buttons. I have found a lot of buttons but not this one in the picture.

Finished taking it apart, moving her outside, pressure wash, wire wheel, and paint the under carriage. Then I will start on the lift and suspension.

Talking Re: 88 EZGO Marathon Project - Just Got it - Need Advice

Got her out of the garage now to get the pressure washer started for the first time since last summer. Some quick pics. Also threw in a pic of the Kawasaki Prairie 400 4x4 I just totally rebuilt. I have to find my jump drive with the before picture. I took pictures of it to put on Craigslist today and someone stopped by and just bought it. Got it for free, put $400 into the paint, brakes, battery, piston, rings, seat cover, a-arm bushings, and sold it for $2400.00 - $2000 profit - can't beat that.
