Default 91 3pg reed vavle

What will happen if there isnt a gasket between the block and reed valve and then no gasket between reed vavle and intake manifold? how would the cart run or would it run at all?

thanks

It would leak air. Both by sucking in unmetered air bypassing the carburetor and by not holding the air in when there is positive crankcase pressure.

If it runs at all, it won’t run very well.

Reeds are designed to let air into the engine case. And then close like a valve and trap that air inside the engine case. If it leaks back out then it’s not able to be drawn into the cylinder, burned, and run.

2 stroke motors are essential to have a complete seal in the engine case. Any leaks at all will affect how they run. This is why crankshaft seals are so important as well.

It may help if you watch some YouTube videos on how a 2 stroke engine operates. When you can see illustrations of how the air/fuel/oil mixture passes through the engine I think it would make more sense.

Maybe tonight at work I’ll scour youtube for the best videos of how a ________ fill in the blank works.

I’ll start a new thread with it if I get the chance. Maybe it would help a lot more people than just this one
