THANKS for the tips guys....REALLY APPRECIATE your help....have not adjusted the valves because I dont know what it will take. Never did it. I plan to take it to dealer

After ready and printing the article from
RUREDY adjusting valves doesnt look like that
tough of job....IM GOING TO TRY IT MYSELF....
would love to save the $$$ a dealer will cost....YOU
GUYS ARE GREAT....thanks again.
QUESTION: what about valve cover gasket? It looks
likes they are re-useable from the article.
thanks again....I will do it tomorrow and report back
to everyone....my first valve adjustment.

Yes, they are reusable. If you get in it and have questions take a break and jump on the keyboard. After you do it you will think, "piece of cake!"

I found the 1/4 turn out method worked better for me. The feeler gauge is for sissy's! LOL!

UPDATE to my hard starting.
Adjusted the valves myself, and IT WORKS GREAT!!!!
Thanks to all of you guys for helping me and giving me the confidence to do it myself.
WAY SPECIAL THANKS TO: Crash12888, WILD-BILL, RobertCARRUS, mikesmotortoys and to ruredy for his article which I printed and followed every step.
IT FEELS GREAT NOT TO GO TO THE DEALER. Thanks again guys.
Feels like it has new pep too....also my choke when cold really effective now.

Glad to hear it worked out for you and you took the plunge and found out it's not all that hard.

Just keep in mind that many of these valves were not hardened all the way and only had a hardened coating on them. If you find you're having to adjust them often i would recomend getting the valves replaced with ones that are fully hardened.
