Default Accidental Short While Changing Speed Sensor

2009 Club Car 48 volt Precedent. Was changing out my speed sensor today. I FORGOT TO PUT IT IN TOW! Went to check the torque on the two forward facing posts on the motor - wrench slipped and sparks flew. Now the cart will not go in forward - the solenoid clicks when pedal is depressed but no movement. The cart will go fine in reverse. I checked the switch and reversed the wires. Still no forward. Just reverse. Just because its clicking, doesn't mean its ok, right. Any help greatly appreciated!

You need a controller. No doubt about it. Might as well upgrade the cart now. The Alltrax is cheaper than a factory replacement and will give you far better performance.

Thanks for the help. Yup..probably right about the upgrade too. I was beginning to notice intermittent speed on the cart too. Wouldn't stay at speed and sluggish take offs. That was the other reason I was fiddling around checking connections and speed sensor. Will a new controller alleviate any of those symptoms ya think?

And the lesson here is.... ?

Tow mode really isn't enough, you need to disconnect the pack negative ANY time you work on the cart.

And what you are describing also sounds like an MCOR issue, so safe yourself some time and pains by calling David Hicks at Revolution Golf Cars (706-431-3917) and let him set you up properly.

It may. Those symptoms can be a result of your speed sensor beginning to fail. Now that it has been replaced you'll be good to go if that was the issue. Another possible issue could be the MCOR. If you put an Alltrax on it and the problem still exists, it'll be easy for you to diagnose, as the Alltrax will allow you to use a windows based laptop as a diagnostic tool. The software is free. All you need is a printer cable.

For all of you people watching, It would be a good idea to buy 4 of these covers for your motor connections. Might save you $500 and a lot of grief.

I agree. The FSIP motors come with these and they're fabulous.
