G16a violent shake when taking off in forward
I'm hoping someone can help me. My new to me G16a that had a homemade lift kit on it violently shakes when accelerating quickly from a dead stop. It will smooth out once you get going. It doesn't do this in reverse no matter how fast I go in reverse. Could it be something to do with how he did the sway bar setup in the rear or should I be looking at something else? I have made sure that I got my Toe-in as best as I can with my new bigger tires. This shake also happened with the stock tires. Any help you guys can give is much appreciated.

Thanks for the help. Do you think that is the most likely cause for the shake?

A bad belt can certainly cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

After that you might need to look at the bushings in the clutches.

Just got to thinking if it was a drive belt or a clutch issue wouldn't it happen in both forward and reverse instead of just forward? Asking because I don't fully know the mechanics of it.

Also, I think he suggested a new belt because just by looking at your driven clutch we can see that the belt is way too far down into the sheaves. The belt should be all the way up to the top. Also it looks like the edges of the belt are all frayed up, which is from severe wear. Just saying, it's the most obvious place to start. Try a new belt, cause you need one for sure, then see how it acts. Oh, and OEM belts are the highest quality for sure, but I've had good luck with some aftermarket ones like Dayco, as long as it's a Kevlar reinforced one. |
