Re: Purified vs. Distilled Water
Distilled water is bad for human consumption. Since it has NO mlnerals, the water will leach electrolytes and minerals from your body as it passes through. Don't drink it.
The term purified water refers to reverse osmosis, distilled, deionized, double distilled or other water puification process. Reverse osmosois passes water through a membrane that removes most of the heavy metals and minerals, and sediment. This is tap water in most areas. If water quality is good before the RO process it will be near mineral free when finished. Distillation is evaporation followed by condensation to leave all minerals out. Double distillation is same as above x2 This is used for injectable drug manufacturing.(also UV filtration) De-ionized water is de-mineralized water that is also mineral free. MAnufacurers recomend distilled water in all batteries. Period. NO ARGUMENT> The water quality in this area is very good. It comes from a large lake that allows for sediment reduction. I don't have a water softener and don't need one. It is then run through RO to my tap. I've used this tap water for 12 years in all my batteries. We have maintained a fleet of 60 carts for the whole duration. I get no less than 5-7 years on TROJAN batteries. If this water smelled like it did in camarillo cal. (sulfer) the batteries wouldn't last 2 years. I wouldn't try it. I'm not telling you to use TAP water. It hasn't caused noticable damage here. With 360 batteries and the luck we have had, I will continue to use tap water. Besides, you got 360 gallons of distilled water,?? please.........MY.02c |

Re: Purified vs. Distilled Water
Let me put it to you this way...If you bought an $900.oo TV from Best Buy and they offered you a warranty for 6 bucks...would you buy it?
Esentially, that's what you have here. 6 batts at $ 150 each = $900.oo 6 gallons of distilled water at $1 each = 6 bucks insert your own battery cost, and the cost of distilled water in your area, but still the formula stands,,,:mrgr een: |

For the record Trojan does say: 3. Do not use water with a high mineral content. Use distilled or deionized water only. |
