motor rebuild

im working on rebuilding a par car motor, not sure of the year but its a high speed model. i have the casing off but just cant figure out how to get the armature out of the back of the casing to replace the brushes. can anyone explain how to do this?

There's a few ways.
1, find a friend with a press and let him press it out; or
2, use a puller tool and screw it out; or
3, do this if you're like me with no friends and no cool tools:

If it's a blue motor, place the motor on end with the open splined end facing down. Place a block of wood under each side of the motor casing itself, far enough to allow the armature to drop down. Remove the small screws holding the brush end to the casing.

Depending on the motor, remove the small cap at the opposing end of the motor, or the speed encoder if equipped (and remove the magnet if present).

Grab a large enough flat punch, like maybe a one inch steel stock, and place on the end of the armature. Grab you biggest maul and give it a good hit. It takes some good pressure.

awesome thanks! i was doing your method all along i just stopped because i didnt want to break it. now when i get it apart is it easier to put back together?

the manual says to put it back together you need new bearings and a press? if i use the same bearings and just hammer it back in will it still work?

OK cool on some other sites I went to it said there was a magnet or something I had to take out and i wasn't sure if that was the magnet
