After a quick charge I had 49Volts across the six batteries. My hydrometer is not calibrated with specific gravity readings. It is a simple one with a few balls. Anyway not many of the balls float no matter how much I cross my fingers and pray! Local battery dealer up here wants $175/battery for a replacement Trojan. Cheaper ones @125.I just pulled them out and they are pretty puffy. My guess is either from freezing or over-charging? I hate to spend that kind of money and find out that all the electricals are bad as well. Maybe the cheaper batt's until I get everything figured out.

Was that 49v reading right after charging then? Cuz you will get falsely high readings until they settle for an hour after the charge has ended..... anyway you can prolly see by the tiny floats they are weak in activity.... Batteries are as good as their maintenance and use programs, I have seen good batts ruined in 1 yr and cheap batts good after 5yrs!

Be careful running the motor with the tires being off ground.
Bump the pedal to see if the wheels turn but by all means don't let them turn long or fast.

Take a look at what can happen ... Exploder

It was immediately after charging. I now have them out and can only check them separately. What is the total voltage on a single battery. I am guessing a little over 2 volts per cell.

Am I close?

To get true battery voltage readings wait 30 to 60 minutes after charger has completed .
Then measure voltage ,
to get battery potential , as scottyb says use hydrometer.

see chart http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-readings.html
