went to the napa site. looked up that shock. nice site gives all the info of shock compressed length extended travel eye size stud thread its nice getting that much info i think it will work fine my napa isn't open on sunday see if advanced has some thanks again

if you can wait till tomorrow I can get you the monro sensa trac number that fits. It took me alot of reading when I did mine but I had access to all the monro books. They worked in mine. Funny thing is when I called the place where I got my springs from they stated they never had heard of this problem.

thanks anyway. i went to advance auto and ordered monroes from them. picked them up today. the number on the slip says 55818. they looked up the same as napa for 76 chevette. is that the same number you have? i didn't have time tonight to check the fit. i'll do it tomorrow night while we get our second blast of snow. got 12 inches on saturday and they say 4-8 tues -wed. that @#$@%# groundhog. that's winter in PA

The groundhog was right. Sees shadow or not, six more weeks of winter or six weeks till spring, either way is the same.

oh well, back to the drawing board. those shocks for the 76 chevette are too long. too short- too long- i wish i could find the ones that are juuuuust right! SAMBUCA, is the number you have for monroe the same as mine? 55818

Use the coupler nuts save a few dollars and move on.
Easy for me to say but I over think a job as I think you are.

I would rather have the shocks. I'm just trying to do things the right way. If I extend the top stud and it snaps off then I don't have anything but a broken shock bouncing around under there. I like to do thing RIGHT ONCE.

Did u not get a new top plate with your springs? You need a new top plate that goes on top of your springs with the shock mount hole and the stock shocks will mount right on. I went with a 7.5" lift and 4 leaf HD springs in the rear with that plate - the shocks mounted right on.

I did not get a lift kit. Just new springs. Went to monroe web site and found the correct length I need to fit.
