Re: Wire Sizes = Gauge?
#6 , #4 gage has to do with wire size / Volume.
Solid #4 will be smaller then a stranded #4, so diameter will tell U nothing. As for speed (without increasing voltage) increase tire size to get more speed, But to keep the low end torque you had with the smaller tires, U need more amps = bigger wires, controller ! |

Re: Wire Sizes = Gauge?
Thats all true, bigger tires, bigger controller, and bigger wires.

Re: Wire Sizes = Gauge?
In the average cart There is about 20 feet of high current line.
With 48v @ 300 Amps you will get this approximate loss. #6 4.9V = 10% #4 3.1V = 6% #2 1.9V = 4% This does not include terminal to lug to contactor to F/R switch loss. |

Re: Wire Sizes = Gauge?
OK so i just saw on the larger of the two sized wires #6 so i'm assuming thats 6 gauge.
Then the smaller would be 8 gauge? So im going to change all to 4 gauge would you agree? Next question is where to buy it and do i have to use all the different colors, ie Black red blue orange etc or should i just use the standard black and mark them? |

Re: Wire Sizes = Gauge?
some of the site sponsers have #4 upgrade kits color coded,
YES maintain the color codes so you can trouble shoot it from the schematic (which has colors. |
