2001 Club Car Problems

I have a 2001 club car that has been giving me problems. I noticed the charge hasn't been lasting long. The batteries are a year old. This is what I have done, I have charged the batteries and jacked up the rear end. When I put it in F/R I notice a little spark (don't know if this is normal). When I mash the petal the right rear tire spins, the left rear acts like it wants to spin but it doesn't. When I take my foot off the pedal, the wheel continues to spin. When i hit the brake it stops, but then tries to start going again. Next, I turned the key off and took it out, then pressed the pedal and it started spinning the right rear tire again. Does anyone know where I need to start with this?

A few questions...

1) Has it just started doing this? 2)From where is the spark coming? 3)Are ALL of your wires in good shape and the connections good & tight?

As for the charge not lasting long and your batteries being just a year old, you could still have a bad battery in the pack, especially if they were not properly maintained or the electrolyte level ever got too low.

Where I started with a similar problem was this...
With the tires off the ground, use a volt meter to test each battery individually and see if you have similar voltage across each one while pressing the accelerator. Also, make sure you have full voltage across the battery pack.

As for the key being removed and the wheels turning, you might have a bad switch or something is not wired properly.

As for just one tire spinning, that is normal since the cart does not have a locking differential.

Sparking is not normal "."
Find out where the spark is coming from and post here.
Running with the switch off , means that something is shorted , switch, micro switch or solinoid .

what Model # Axxx xxxxx
Does it have 2 solinoids or 1 ?
Do you own a digital Volt meter ?

If it runs when you turn the key switch on then you have a stuck solenoid.

the spark is behind the F/R lever. When I move it to Forward you see a contact spark. Same thing when you switch it to Reverse. As far as it running when the key is turned off or wanting to go without pressing the pedal, it just started doing that. I think this is why my batteries seem to lose charge quick because it is always wanting to go when it is parked. I will have to get the model number off of it.

I'm not sure I understand this, its supose to run when you turn the key switch on, right?

What Model # Axxx xxxxx
Does it have 2 solenoids or 1 ?
Do you own a digital Volt meter ?

Golfcartfixer is probably right , try replacing the solenoid first ,
disconnect the battery pack at the last NEG "-" battery,
replace solenoid
and reconnect batteries.
TEST

DO NOT use automotive solenoid, get one from a cart shop , get the new resistor and Diode with the solenoid !

Find the right electrical diagram for your cart as well.... 2001's came in four setups. Go to this thread CLICK HERE
and see POST #9. There I have posted all 4 diagrams for 2001s Download them from Mediafire and find the one that matches your cart. Print it, laminate it as you will end up referring to it over and over again.

Serial number is A9923-768205. Model number on motor is 5bc48jb764.
It only has one solenoid. And I can get a volt meter.
