Jerky Start
Hey guys - what are some things to check or that could cause a jerky start when the pedal is pressed? I replaced my stock motor and controller with D&D Hi torque motor and Alltrax DCX 500 amp controller. It runs fine once it's going, it is just jerky at the start. It did not do this before the conversion. All my wiring is correct, using HD solenoid with resistor and diode, pedal up is 12 (was jerky on 5 as well). Any troubleshooting recs would be appreciated.

Re: Jerky Start
I'm not much on electric carts but if it started after the swap I would give the selling vendor a call and talk to their tech support.
Hopefully some of the electric guys will pick up on this. |

Re: Jerky Start
This motor/controller combo is very demanding. How old is the battery pack?

Re: Jerky Start
battery pack is brand new
What should the readings on a potentiometer be? Mine are starting out at about 8200 and bottoming out at about 1400 ohms. I tested my brother in laws and it reads about the same, a little lower at both ends. One thing mine does different than his, is it is a little jumpy. As the pedal is depressed - mine drops then jumps up a couple ohms, then continues to drop, then jumps up a couple ohms. It could be in the pedal operation, but the same person did it in both carts; and his cart did not jump like that, that i could notice anyway. Thoughts? |

Re: Jerky Start
I assume you have been into the software. Are you running the correct field map for that motor? You could also try adjusting the throttle curve. I'm not current on the potbox readings so we want to wait for another CC guy.

Re: Jerky Start
The supplier told me he had the field map for my cart. I have adjusted throttle up and down etc to see if there is any difference, there is not. I have not adjusted the throttle curve.
Is there anyway to "adjust" the pent? |

Re: Jerky Start
what year cart?
What system is it? Series or sepex? what throttle indicator type is it? Vglide? MCOR? Curtis? We need some more info but so far I would say your throttle input readings are too high CC is typically 5K-0 ohms...... hope this helps? |

Re: Jerky Start
Just an update for those who care - I believe it's the MCOR. I did some monitoring on my controller while I was running and it was only getting up to about 78% of full throttle. Ordered a new one today and should have it installed early next week. We'll see what the ohm readings are with the new one, I'll post it back
