I'm Stumped (loss of power)
My 1983 Club Car has been a dog ever since I bought it.. I installed a 7" lift and 34" tires and then purchased a rebuilt motor from EMP based off my tire size.. They said speed would be about 16mph.. After geting the new motor installed, it is exactly the same as it was so I figured it had to be the batteries. So I went out and bought 6 new batteries, installed them and even upgraded all my battery wires to 4awg and still have the exact same problem.. I have an older 5 solenoid cart and all 5 solenoids are firing.. In reverse it barely has enough power to push the cart and in forward it slooooowly works its way up to speed (same as it did before my motor and battery upgrade)... My stock 92 Ezgo can run 3 laps before this one even completes one lap, WTH?
Any ideas? Thanks Cuz |

Re: I'm Stumped (loss of power)
Cuz? What were you thinking? 34 inch tires and 2 or 3 hp electric cart!? I don't run that much tire on a 25hp gas engine.... You must convert from solenoids to solid state and up your voltage to 48 ..... are you sure you want to keep the truck tires

Here's the way I look at it, but correct me if I'm wrong, if all 5 solenoids fire, doesnt it apply full voltage to the motor? And if so, why does it act like I'm slowly giving it gas (very slowly)? Its so bad in reverse that I can stop the cart from moving by just putting my foot on the tire while flooring it, does that make sense? Eidt: In reverse there isnt even enough power to climb over a hammer handle that I left laying on the floor.. |

Re: I'm Stumped (loss of power)
I think I found it, if anyone really cares to know
My first solenoid was firing but must have a bad contact in it because no voltage was passing through it.. Instead, the power then went through the coils on that resistor to feed the other contactors and I was only getting 12v to my motor.. Cant wait to see what happens when all 40+ volts are applied now Ok, off to get a new solenoid Cuz |
