Just in time for summer vacation.....the cart now has a Sony stereo system....

I've ran wire, built boxes, hook-ed up an on/off switch for the voltage reducer, installed it all....and BAM! it actually works.....yeh haww!

I would love to see pics and how you did it/what was involved. I have a 99 carryall that I want to sup up, and an old JVC cd laying around waiting... any info would be great!

This is my short write-up of my stereo install on my 48 V cart.

This hook-up will not be the same as in your automobile, I have an on/off switch to kill power to accessories and therefore lose memory to the stereo. I twisted my red and yellow wires from my stereo together. I do not have constant power going to my stereo to save memory or draw power from the batteries continuously


1.built box to fit stereo/speakers, installed antenna, and mounted to cart.
2.pulled wires through roof supports from stereo to run to terminal block/power and installed wires from stereo to speakers.

red and yellow wire from stereo were twisted together and run to terminal block/power.

3.Installed power wires (pos/neg) from batteries to my “48 to 12 V” voltage reducer.
4.Installed an on/off switch in the red/positive line from the battery to the voltage reducer to kill power to accessories when stereo is not being used.
5.Installed wires from voltage reducer red/positive and black/negative to a terminal block.
6.Test for 12 V on the terminal block.
7.Hooked up stereo pos/neg, lights pos/neg to terminal block.
8.Turn on kill switch.
9.Turn on stereo/lights to test.

Looks good. Cant wait to install my ipod setup. Looking for a thread that shows how to hook up an Ipod setup only. Just want 2 speakers and an auxillary port for Ipod to run speakers. Anyone have ideas where to get pics and directions to install.
