Default Re: precedent charger problem need suggestions

The white compound on the back of the Diode bar is the same stuff they use on CPU's for computers for the cooling fans. Most any Computer store will have it in quantity.

Has anyone else noticed that once those resettable breakers trip they are far more sensitive and likely to trip again?

Default OK to wrap it up

Gene you were right. ding ding

I just had the charger fixed. The guy replaced the 15A resettable fuse (said he had to) as well as the diode. The rectifier was OK.

I do have one question for you guys. I watched him replace the diode assembly.

As far as the CPU grease: I assume that you are talking about putting it where the metallic round heatsink type surface on the back of the diode pack mounts to the metal plate that covers the circuit board - correct?

Is there a good product at Wallyworld or Autozone for this?

Pay close attention to how the wires are attached and draw a diagram if you need to so you will get the wires reconnected correctly.. Also it is a good idea to use some dielectric compound to help the heat transfer to the outer case to help cool the diode assembly. We averaged about one of these a month for a while at the golf course till we got our new carts and chargers. Gene Davis
