OBC, Batteries or What?
Thanks in advance for any help on this problem.
I have a DS Electric Club Car which will not stop charging. After reading various forums, I traded out all the batteries from another cart. The result was the good cart charged as normal and the problem cart still would not stop charging. The problem cart will sometimes drop to almost 0 amps, but will not turn off. Other times it will boil the batteries at high amps. Is the next step replacing the OBC? Should I check anything else first? |

Re: OBC, Batteries or What?
1st welcome................you didn,t mention what year i would suspect the OBC not telling the charger to shut off........did you try another charger on the problem cart? and do you know if anyone worked on the charger for any reason? if your sure the charger hasn,t been opened up and worked on and you tried a charger you know works right on another cart i would replace the OBC...............................................

Re: OBC, Batteries or What?
Thanks for the input. I'm not sure of the year. The serial is AA0411-374092. It is a 48 volt model. I do have two chargers and get the same result with both.

Re: OBC, Batteries or What?
its a 2004, now this is just my opinion but carts from 2000 and newer that i have worked on and have experence with i have seen many carts that just the charger would not shut off and after making sure it wasn,t battery or cable or the combo that was at issue 100% of the time it has been the OBC............don,t ask me why i don,t know but in all these carts i,m talking about that was the one and only sympton of the OBC being bad not even the battery dash light acting up...................................

Re: OBC, Batteries or What?
Thanks Shadowman. I guess the next step is to find a replacement OBC.
Thanks again. |

Re: OBC, Batteries or What?
Did you say the charger shut off with different batteries? Not sure I understood the good cart, bad cart. If the cart shut off with different batteries, it probably is not the OBC. You could have one bad battery that will cause the charger to keep running. But if it still kept charging with different batteries, it is probably the OBC.
